Charity used trailer to transport give away bikes.

A trailer used to transport dozens of bicycles to children and others in need from a West Palm Beach charity was stolen this week.  Jack the Bike Man Inc., posted on its Facebook page asking the public for help.  When staff went outside the warehouse Thursday morning, they found the trailer was gone. “Someone has stolen our big trailer that we use to pick up and distribute bicycles around the community,” the post reads.  “We came outside this morning and found our chain that’s attached to the trailer cut off.”

Jack the Bike Man is a not-for profit organization founded by Samuel H. “Jack” Hairston III.  He’s been known in the community for years for fixing and giving away thousands of bicycles and helmets to children, recovering addicts and others in need.  The bikes are repaired in a West Palm Beach warehouse by staff in the nonprofit and people who put in 15 to 20 hours to get a bike through the Earn a Bike Project.  The Facebook post goes on to say that if anyone sees the trailer, to please report it.  West Palm Beach police are investigating the incident.
