Jack the Bike Man is getting a hand.
On Sunday, volunteers from a local bike shop came armed with tools and big hearts.
"Just to help Jack, I think what he does is awesome, and we're trying to do what we can to help him," said Tom Rassiga of Bicyclery.
Jack has a tall order. Hundreds of bikes in his warehouse are in need of repair.
"First we make sure the wheels are gonna work right, get the tires and tubes in good shape, then you check the brakes, then you check the gears and you make it work," said Jack.
And as soon as one gets fixed, more donations arrive.
Jack's trying to clear out the adult bikes to make way for Santa Clause.
"By getting these repaired, we can get rid of those quickly and then have room to get the smaller bikes in that we need to start working on for Christmas," he said.
About 25 bikes finished so far, with a goal of 100 for the day. And Jack says they will all be gone in no time!
"I have never been able to stockpile repaired bikes, as quickly as I get one roadworthy, I have two people needing bicycles."
Jack still needs bike donations, especially children's bikes in time for Christmas. He could also use bike parts to help with repairs.
And as always, volunteers are needed to fix the bikes and coordinate events.
